Infiniti is deploying an all-new generation of its big QX80 SUV, complete with fresh styling inspired by the QX Monograph concept vehicle, according to ”caranddriver.com”.
The new QX80 wears an imposing shape, with an upright front end, large-mouth grille and big wheels. Exterior lighting elements add drama and include two slim daytime running lights with a distinctive block pattern up front and a full-width light bar across the liftgate connecting the taillights.
Under the hood is a 450-hp twin-turbo V-6 in place of last year’s naturally aspirated V-8. The deluxe cabin features three rows of seats with a massaging function available for both the first- and second-row chairs. The interior can also be optioned with a system that utilizes an infrared sensor in the headliner to detect when a rear-seat passenger is too warm; it then automatically directs cool air from the climate control system toward that rider. Also available is a 24-speaker stereo tuned by high-end audio maker Klipsch.
What’s New for 2025?
The QX80 begins a new generation with the 2025 model year. Look for it to arrive at Infiniti dealers in summer 2024.
Pricing and Which One to Buy
The price of the 2025 Infiniti QX80 starts at $84,445 and goes up to $112,590 depending on the trim and options.
The new QX80 follows a similar path as the mid-size QX60, with an entry-level Pure trim serving as the high-value model and the fully-loaded Autograph model bringing the poshest finishes.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
Instead of a V-8 engine under the hood, the 2025 QX80 is powered by a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V-6. The previous-generation QX80’s V-8 made 400 horsepower, but the 2025’s blown six makes 450, so it should be a little quicker than the outgoing model. A nine-speed automatic is standard, and Pure and Luxe trims can be had with either rear- or all-wheel drive; Sensory and Autograph models get all-wheel drive standard. An air-spring suspension system is included on all but the base Pure trim.
Towing and Payload Capacity
All variants of the QX80 are rated to tow up to 8500 pounds.
Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
The QX80 features three rows of seats, and all three are expected to be spacious and comfortable. The dashboard is dramatically styled and features a wall of screens that serve as a gauge cluster and infotainment touchscreen. Infiniti offers numerous luxury features, including a massage function for both the first- and second-row seats but you’ll have to upgrade to the Sensory or Autograph trims to get that. Heated seats will also be offered in the third row. An available infrared sensor system can detect when a rear-seat passenger is too warm and will automatically direct cool air toward them from the climate control vents.
Infotainment and Connectivity
The QX80’s infotainment setup consists of three displays. Two 14.3-inch screens sit high up on the dash, with one of them serving as the digital gauge cluster and the other as the infotainment touchscreen. A third, 9.0-inch touchscreen is mounted lower and controls such functions as the HVAC system and drive-mode selector. The standard Google-based infotainment system not surprisingly includes access to Google Maps, the Google Play app store, and Google’s voice assistant feature. Eight USB-C ports dot the cabin, and a 14-speaker Klipsch stereo system is standard; a more powerful, 24-speaker Klipsch stereo with speakers in the headrests and the headliner is standard on Sensory and Autograph trims.
Safety and Driver-Assistance Features
Standard on all QX80 models is a package of driver-assistance features that includes automated emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keeping assist. A more advanced adaptive cruise control system, which Infiniti calls ProPilot Assist 2.1, is optional and features a hands-free driving mode. ProPilot Assist 2.1 is available on Luxe, Sensory, and Autograph models.
